I'm not a big time reviewer on Amazon. Reviews come spontaneously to me here, usually based on something I've just seen or read. I will never be one of those people with thousands of reviews to my name. Sure, if I wanted to spend the time to review every book, movie, piece of electronic equipment, music cd I've listened etc. to I could be on here for the next couple of years doing nothing but writing reviews. However since I don't have that kind of time I pretty much only take the time to write about stuff I really love, or really hate. This shampoo falls into the really love bin.
I've suffered from a nasty case of dandruff related to seborrheic dermatitis for the past four years or so. Doctors really don't know what causes seborrheic dandruff and they certainly don't know how to cure it. They have theories for what causes it but that's it. Steroid cremes are great for controlling the symptoms, but over time they are really dangerous to use. So I've been cursed (it seems like a curse) with this awful condition that has led to an infuriating case of scalp itch, and massive dandruff all over my shirts. The dermatitis has spread to my ears and eyebrows too, leading to intense itching and flaking in those areas as well. This sucks!
I have tried every dandruff shampoo on the market and none of them have worked. I discovered Jason Dandruff Relief shampoo about two months ago when I decided to use products that are free of SLS, parabens, cocamide DEA etc. about the same time I discovered this shampoo. Had I not gone on the SLS free kick I never would have discovered this shampoo, and that would have been a loss.
This shampoo is amazing. After one use (yes, that's not a typo) my dandruff problem disappeared. I have used it per the directions (leave in for three minutes and use every other day) and my dandruff has not come back. No more itchy scalp, ears, or eyebrows, and best of all no embarrassing flaking. If this shampoo could cure my dandruff condition, which is probably worse than anyone else I've know, it will cure yours as well. The product says what it does, and does what it says, and that is becoming more rare these days. I appreciate that.
My only warning is the smell, it's pretty rank smelling stuff. It has a strong mediciny smell to it that certainly will not be to most people's liking. Unfortunately the smell does tend to kind of linger on the hair as well. But you know what, I wouldn't care if the shampoo smelled like a fresh pile of dog doo for the kind of relief this shampoo provides me. But I just thought I would throw that out there so you're warned. Don't let it stop you from buying this stuff however, as you'll be missing out on the best dandruff shampoo on the market, bar none!

I bought this originally for my daughter who has really bad flaking on her scalp. It seems to be the only thing that works. I liked that it was full of tea tree oil, neem oil, and without sudsing agents, which just dry you out anyway. It wasn't at all harsh like the other chemical filled commercial products. Yes, it does smell funky, but she's not scratching at her head all day.
Recently though, we had a breakout of ringworm. Of course, once again, products marketed toward our problem failed to work. I read that sulphur helps dry it out and kill ringworm as it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. So does tea tree oil and neem oil. I decided to give it a go on myself.
Not only did it get rid of my ringworm its clearing up my body acne!! I've been plagued with acne on my chest, arms and back since I was a teen. Nothing worked. This not only helps combat the problem, the combo of oils helps moisturize which is important to acne treatment. I don't need a seperate lotion.
Over time, the sulphur smell doesn't linger as much on the skin. The smell is strong when combating the problem. If less problem is present, then less smell. We've noticed this with my daughters head. If her scalp outbreak was bad, the smell was stronger.
I highly reccomend this product. |
IT works !

I read all the reviews up here...seeing that most were positive and someone argued against a negative comment I tried it out. My head was itching so bad and I had lots of flakes. After one time I noticed a huge difference with my scalp. Seemed more balanced..not too oily not to dry.
I noticed someone mentioned something about the smell...I use to use the T Gel by Neutrogena. If you compare smells...this one is a bit better. Jason's has a more natural smell. T Gel did do the trick but I learned that they are not turned off about testing on animals and I am!
So on my first try I let it sit on my head for a good couple of minutes. You can feel it working and soothing all the itchy spots.
I say..Buy it ; )
Thanks

| This shampoo has improved my scalp and my overall complection immensely. I use it on my face as well and it works much better then all the acne products that I have tried. It is very gentle and I actually like the herbal smell. I color my hair with henna so I don't have to use any hairconditionars after I shampoo. My hair is already conditioned. I usually use another shampoo to actually wash my hair after I use the antidandruff Jason. As other rewiers pointed out, this particular Jason shampoo doesn't wash out very easily. It really is a scalp treatment. As my secondary shampoo I use another Jason shampoo especially for red hair. The combination works really well for me. |
Great for more than just dandruff!

I originally bought this shampoo in an effort to get rid of head lice. I had been trying every over-the-counter product there is, and we just couldn't get the bugs to go away completely and STAY gone. My biggest problem was that most of the OTC products were burning my daughter's skin, not to mention what they were doing to her hair.
I went to a natural health food store to see if I could find something there to help. I found a lice kit, but it cost almost $30. I was willing to pay the price, but I was hoping to maybe find something a bit less expensive. So I checked all of the ingredients in the kit, and started looking at other products. I found the JASON dandruff shampoo, and it had all of the active ingredients in it that the lice kit did!
I used the shampoo much like you would a lice treatment, leaving it on for about 10 minutes, washing it out, and combing. It worked like a charm and we so far haven't had any recurring lice problems!
Also, I've been using it on myself, as I have horrible psoriasis on my scalp. The problem had gotten so bad that I shaved my head in order to help clear it up. I find that this shampoo is a wonderful addition to my regimen for maintaining a healthy scalp. Now when I get flare ups, they're nowhere NEAR as bad. In fact, my worst flare ups now are better than my best days before.
Some people don't like the smell of this shampoo, but I find it not so bad. I wouldn't call it pleasant, but it's not disgusting. I guess it all boils down to personal preference. |
